You'll have a great time and it is especially a good pick for lonely travelers with all the social activities going on. BTW: They also have girls-only-dorms, which might be convenient sometimes. Bryan: Yes the progressive nightclub tours are still being conducted by a couple of Frank's girls or Frank himself at times and they are always entertaining. Eva: Kabul IS legendary but is really hard to get into at times - especially in Summer. Bryan: Yes the progressive nightclub tours are still being conducted by a couple of Frank’s girls or Frank himself at times and they are always entertaining.

Eva: Kabul IS legendary but is really hard to get into at times – especially in Summer. It is a crazy place though and definitely worth a look if you are ever lucky enough to be in that great city again.

I've been to four of these cities but didn't make it to any of your picks. I'm still bummed I missed out on Kabul, that place is legendary - but you can't self-cater there and Barcelona was the last five days of my trip, so I was just scraping by. (Tuna pasta for lunch, tuna pasta for dinner...) Your Venice pick sounds way better than the HI hostel on Giudecca, which was pretty much the way I imagine juvie to be. My London stand-by has always been the Hyde Park Inn. It's a complete hole and not a whole whack of fun, but it is (or was) 9 pounds in winter and 11 pounds in summer. Can't knock that.
