It was Margaret Atwood who said, “Wanting to know an author because you like his work is like wanting to know a duck because you like paté.” This didn’t stop us. We have been wondering about the faces behind the Tweets and have wrangled together pictures of a dozen Tweeps from the travel world…more to come as this series kicks off.

About the Author

Tom Gates

Tom is currently taking a lap of Earth, living in 12 countries over 12 months in 2009, all the while documenting this trek in a book to be called Wayward. He is also pretending to be a third person right now and is obviously writing his own bio. He knows that you knew that, despite the deft maneuvering of pronouns.

Just wanted to say that I appreciate being invited to be part of this photo essay. I’m definitely the ‘oldie’ in the group. That’s great because I have so much to learn and you young ‘uns are the perfect tweeps to teach me! And you do … every day!
