The lady next to me in the library is giving me a dirty look because I didn"t use my "indoor" laugh while reading this. Too funny.

My "I'll be inspired after I" excuses of late involve getting produce from local organic farm. then canning said produce into jams, salsas, chutneys etc., then finding new recipes to make with same produce but discovering I'm out of produce. back to the farm, this time with the dog...ya'll get the idea.

I can't remember who said it but I seem to reacll some brilliant literary sort saying " "Much of writing is about NOT writing."

Well at least you wrote this! Thanks...

Oh, Natalia. If there's one thing that anyone knows about me, it's that I'm a careless writer and even a more careless thinker. I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea what I'm doing. That's half the fun of writing things like this and I think maybe why I sound like me. If you think my writing is bad, you should see me drive.

I am greatly honored that you'd consider me a Victorian prude. I'll get a chuckle out of that the next time somebody tries to get into my pantaloons.

Hi Tom,

I was somewhat disappointed by your careless depiction of Latin American culture. Perhaps you found public displays of affection creepy due to your inability to escape Victorian prudishness.

Additionally, while you flesh out Michael and Robert's characters, you provide no additional context when describing the women you encounter. Cathy is "gorgeous," but the reader does not know why she has chosen to travel, and you do not even deign to provide the name of the woman whose incessant talking propels you to finally start your book. If anything, you might end up owing the birth of your best-seller to her.

Stumbling onto Tom's writing for the first time? I'm jealous. You've got hours of laugh out loud reading ahead of you.

I can't even say how much I enjoyed reading this.

And as for the relationships between the mothers and their kids, especially their sons...it gets weird. I've seen grown men go into jealous rages when their mothers spend time with other men (especially the divorced/widowed ones).

Can't wait for your book, Tom!

Am supposed to be writing a 5000 word document on how to sell margarine in the digital age but this was worth having my train of thought destroyed. Go and write that book now! Can't wait to read it.

I look forward to reading the book, hopefully it will include more details of the disturbing PDAs! I really enjoyed this article and am sure the book will be a triumph...

P.S. I found your blog on the BloggersChoiceAwards website and think it is great! I voted for you, I write for the Our Everyday Earth - Green Blog and wondered if you would vote for us in the best Education blog category;
