Hi Shree,

Was given a list of rules by the Indian Railway,

It seemed to say you're not allowed.

But do re confirm, as i didn't pay too much attention to the rule list.

Cheers,

Are you sure carrying alcohol (as opposed to consuming alcohol) is not permitted in Indian Railways trains? I googled a lot to get an opinion on this, but in vain.

Being an Indian girl living in Dubai, i just could not make the immigration officers at Tribuvan Airport (Nepal) understand that i would not be going back to india where my parents were, but to Dubai. That was a scene not to be missed & according to Indian standards i should be a grandmom by now::))

Why does me name appear as denne?

Thanks

Yes everyone thought i was in trouble and on the run or something similar. And it was impossible to explain the volunteering part, they all thought “why would anyone opt to leave home?”

An Indian train ride is always an experience. The timelessness of travelling for such a long time, endless stops and new people, oh and the occasional fight. I can imagine that they thought it was strange that you were travelling by yourself - many Indians find it very difficult to understand why on earth anyone would want to travel by themselves. They usually show 'pity' on me.

I liked the start of your story, with your family and friends all at the station to see you off.

It I miss the 'Chai, chai, chai' call the chai wallehs.
