Hi, Theodore, My name is Gaurav and I am civil engineering graduate student from Texas A & M University, Kingsville.
I am willing to do research on Dam Rehabilitation, particularly in Texas. As you mentioned there are 101 hazardous dams in Texas and 9 among them are structurally unsafe. Can you please let me know more about those 9 dams? As I am an International student I really do not have idea about that still I am searching on this topic on internet and willing to do my research project on this. So, I would be more happy you can put more light on that.
You may also send me links to my email address gauravsupekar@gmail.com

Thank you

If you want to scare yourself, look at the 2006 deficiency statistics from the American Rivers website.

As a sample, my home state of Iowa has 83 dams that have been classified as high hazard, meaning they pose a serious threat to human life if they should fail. Of those high hazard dams, 9 have been identified as structurally deficient or unsafe.

But that pales in comparison to some other states. Texas has 101 high hazard dams that are structurally deficient or unsafe. Georgia has 156. Ohio has 170. Pennsylvania has 215.

Only three states (Colorado, Connecticut, & Rhode Island) have no dams deemed unsafe of this classification.
